The history of Calvary Lutheran began long before its formal organization. Dr. H. L. Foss, President of the Pacific District of the ELC had, along with many Lutherans in the Grants Pass area, longed for a church there. The area was surveyed in 1957 and was put on the list of mission congregations to be established. In 1958 a site for the church was located and purchased. Rev.
